Damaged baggage wheel in a Delta flight (second in a row!)
Delta Flight Jan12th/Jan 13th 2016, Monterrey, Mexico to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
For the second time in a row. Delta has mishandled one of my bags. When we picked the bags from the carrousel at GRU Airport Terminal 2 (http://www.gru.com.br/), we noticed that one wheel was missing so we reported and filled out a form in the Baggage claim kiosk. So now that the case is open, Delta will be contacted me to either fix the bag or make a bank deposit as last time. As mentioned in my other post https://aetgo.com/en/broken-baggage-with-delta-airlines/ this happens so frequently that probably you have experienced something similar, for this reason I have made the following guideline for you:
- Reported immediately at the airport and in the airline’s webpage (Sometimes the airline company doesn’t have a kiosk or people that can help you, so in that case reported immediately in their webpage, e.g. for Delta is https://www.delta.com/content/www/en_US/traveling-with-us/baggage/after-your-trip/delayed-lost-or-damaged.html and they stated in their site “You must report your claim within 24 hours for U.S. travel and seven days for international travel” So hurry up!
- Take a couple pictures to document the damage.
- Don’t trash you damaged bag, keep it as prove and also because they may fixed for you!
- Wait to receive an email from them and reply them accordingly. They may ask you for more information (See below received email from Delta)
- Pretty much after a couple emails your problem would be resolved. They will either fix your bag or deposit you to compensate the damage.
Thank you for your e-mail to Delta Air Lines.
